How KF Consulting Turned Community into Classrooms for Girls in Afghanistan

Six months ago, this began with a feeling many of us recognise, but few know how to respond to.

Challenge

As the situation for girls and women in Afghanistan continued to deteriorate, that helplessness shifted quickly to anger. Then to solidarity with our Afghan sisters. And finally, it became something far more powerful.

Action

At KF Consulting, we made a conscious decision.

We would not stand by. We would stand up.

We would not observe from the sidelines while an entire generation of girls was being denied education, opportunity, and voice.

Instead, we chose action.

We brought together an extraordinary group of people. A fierce and committed team of women, alongside equally passionate men, united by a shared belief that education is not optional. It is fundamental.

Together with Afghan Girls Underground Schools, we set out to do something tangible. Something meaningful.

On Sunday 15 March 2026, one week after International Women’s Day, we hosted a fundraising trivia event. It was vibrant, energising, and cloaked in our community.  The room was filled with people who showed up not just to attend, but to contribute. Through ticket sales, lucky draws, silent and live auctions, and generous donations, the energy in the room was unmistakable.

This was community in action.

Our initial goal was clear. Raise $7,500 to fund two new classrooms, supporting 20 girls to access education through underground schools in Afghanistan.

Even that felt ambitious.

But what we underestimated was the power of community and the magic of a team united by purpose.  What we underestimated was that love, connection, and shared belief can outmatch fear. That collective action can push back, even in small but meaningful ways, against systems designed to silence.

Together, we raised over $13,000.

More than double our original target.

This means we are now able to support twice as many girls as we first imagined. Twice the opportunity. Twice the impact. Twice the hope.

At KF Consulting, we often speak about values. Inclusion. Equity. Leadership.

But this work is a reminder that values are not statements. They are choices.

They are decisions made when no one is asking you to act.

They are actions taken when it would be easier to simply express support and move on.

As a values-led consultancy, we believe that leadership carries a responsibility to contribute meaningfully, not just conceptually.

This initiative reflects who we are.
